Data Removal privacy details

Data Removal uses identity information to distinguish your records and prepare requests to covered sites. This page explains what that involves.

Why does Magpie need my address?

Data brokers may list people with the same name. Your current and previous addresses help Magpie identify records that may belong to you and avoid requesting removal of someone else’s information.

Why does Magpie need my date of birth?

Date of birth can help distinguish people with similar names. Magpie uses it only when it is needed for a broker’s removal process.

What gets sent to brokers?

Each broker has its own removal process. Magpie sends the fields required by that broker’s current procedure, not your entire profile by default. The current RocketReach process uses an account email and requires you to follow its verification message.

Does every broker receive every field?

No. The information sent depends on the broker and the removal procedure it provides. Magpie’s broker records describe the fields and user action required for each supported process.

How is my authorization stored?

Your identity profile and authorization are encrypted before they are stored. Queue records and application logs contain identifiers and operational status, not a copy of your identity profile.

Does Magpie store identity documents?

The current Data Removal service does not receive or store identity documents required directly by a broker. If a future broker process requires a different document flow, Magpie will explain that flow before it is used.

How long is my information retained?

Cancellation stops future renewal. Data Removal continues through the period already paid for, then stops starting new checks. Cancellation does not by itself delete your account or identity profile. To request account or profile deletion, contact support; the request follows the retention rules in the Privacy Policy.

Is my information sold?

No. Magpie does not sell the information in your Data Removal profile.

Can a broker use my request to add information about me?

Magpie cannot control a broker’s systems after a request is sent. Magpie sends only the information required by the broker’s removal procedure. Review the broker’s privacy policy for how it handles information it receives.

What happens if a site needs me to act?

Some sites require an email confirmation, code or another verification step from the person named in the record. Magpie records the requirement and tells you what to do. A request is not marked removed until a later check confirms that the record is absent.
