Changelog

Fixed Screen Recorder

Fixed deleting screen recordings, and stopped raw errors showing in toasts

Deleting a recording from the list could fail with a confusing error message instead of removing it, and any server error on that page was shown to you verbatim.

Fixed Screen Recorder

Downloaded recordings no longer stretch their images

Images added in the recording editor kept their shape on the share page but were stretched to fill their box in a downloaded MP4. They now match.

Improved Navigation

Removed the public page links from the navigation sidebar

The booking page, public calendar and podcast page links at the bottom of the left-hand navigation have been removed.

Improved Screen Recorder

Recording editor: image panel beside the video, and working timeline drags

The selected image's settings now sit next to the video, you set how long it stays on screen rather than when it ends, and timeline blocks can be dragged again.

Improved Screen Recorder

Recording editor now saves on request, not automatically

Image edits in the recording editor stay local until you click Save, with a warning before leaving if you have not.

Improved Screen Recorder

Recording editor keeps the image panel on the right sooner

The selected image's times and layer controls now stay in a right-hand panel on more screen sizes instead of dropping to a row below the timeline.

Fixed Ideas

Fixed links in Ideas that were typed without https://

A link card in the Ideas workspace now opens the right page even when it was typed as "example.com" instead of "https://example.com".

Improved Screen Recorder

Tidied up two recording option descriptions

Removed two explanatory lines under Screen position and Camera side that repeated what the option already said.

New Screen Recorder

Add images to a finished screen recording

A new Edit action lets you place images over a recording at chosen times, without changing the original file.

New Screen Recorder

Give your camera its own panel while screen recording

The screen recorder can now put your camera in a half or third of the frame instead of a small bubble.

New Sharing

Magpie links now arrive with a picture

Every public page carries a preview card, so a link posted to Bluesky, X, Slack or iMessage shows what it is.

New Stats

Magpie's numbers are now public

A new page shows how many people use Magpie, how many pay for it, and every payment as it arrives.

Improved Accounts

Signing in looks like the rest of Magpie

The login, sign-up, two-factor and team invitation screens were the last pages still using the old design.

Improved Forms

Questions on a form are now printed at a readable size

A question was being set smaller than its own help text and smaller than the answer being typed into it.

Fixed Forms

A form's introduction now appears on the first page only

On a multi-page form the introduction was repeating above every page, which is not what the form builder showed you.

Improved Forms

The Publish button now tells you whether there is anything to publish

Publish is available when your form has changes the published version does not, and greyed out when it does not.

Improved Forms

Fewer buttons along the top of the form editor

The editor now offers one way to look at your form rather than two, and Responses has moved to Form settings.

Improved Forms

Clearer choices in the form appearance picker

The Magpie appearance now carries the site's background wash, and the appearance previously called Default is now called Plain.

Fixed Forms

Changing a form's appearance now takes effect straight away

Choosing a new appearance used to do nothing to the live form until you next published it.

Fixed Forms

The Default form appearance no longer breaks on a dark device

Forms using the Default appearance were showing pale text on a white card for anyone whose device was set to dark mode.
