Changelog

Improved Home

Documents and Git Repositories name their alternatives

The "Alternative to" column on the home page now names actual products for Documents and Git Repositories, matching every other row.

Improved Documents

Documents authoring polish

Documents now collect endnote text in the editor and keep advanced authoring content useful in exported formats.

Improved About

The home page links to About

The headline on the home page now carries a footnote asterisk that links to the About page, alongside the About link in the footer.

New Documents

Documents advanced authoring

Documents now support structured equations, citations, endnotes, cross-references, custom styles, accessibility checks, and local mail-merge copies.

New About

There is now an About page

A new page at /about says who makes Magpie, how it started as a booking-page site, and why the other tools were moved into it. It is linked from the Company column in the footer.

New Documents

Documents import and export

Documents can now be imported and exported in common document formats.

New Documents

Documents Pages mode and PDF export

Documents can now be prepared for paper and downloaded as private PDFs.

Fixed Documents

Editor side panels now have a proper heading

The heading of every side panel in the Document and Spreadsheet editors sat flush against the edge of the panel with no padding and no dividing line. All fifteen now use the standard panel heading.

New Documents

Documents collaboration and review

Documents now keep an operation history, named versions, anchored comments, reviewers and suggestions.

Improved Documents

Documents collaborator presence

Documents now show which collaborators are currently in the editor.

Improved Documents

Documents collaboration notices

Documents now show meaningful collaboration notices for sharing, replies, mentions and review decisions.

Improved Documents

Undo and Redo are now icons in the editor toolbars

Undo and Redo are icon buttons in the Document and Spreadsheet toolbars, matching the tools beside them and leaving more room on a narrow screen.

Improved Documents

The Document editor now works like the Spreadsheet editor

The row of buttons above a document is now four menus — File, Edit, Insert, and Format — with a toolbar of the everyday commands, right-click menus on tables, pictures and footnotes, and the same keyboard shortcuts Spreadsheets uses.

Improved Documents

Attach files to Documents

Documents can now include related PDF and ZIP attachments from your Magpie file library.

New Documents

Documents foundation

Documents now provides a team-owned structured writing editor with headings, lists, formatting, sharing, and autosave.

Improved Screen Recorder

Resize the camera bubble in screen recordings

The recording options now include a camera size control for floating camera bubbles.

Fixed Spreadsheets

Cell contents stay selected when editing by double-click

Double-clicking a spreadsheet cell now keeps its contents visibly selected while it is edited.

Improved Design

Menus now work the same everywhere

The pop-out menus in Notes, Books, Boards, To-dos and the Idea Workspace all use one component. Every one of them now closes with Escape, can be driven from the keyboard, and stays on screen near an edge.

Improved Spreadsheets

Spreadsheet commands are now in menus

The row of thirty-seven buttons above the grid is now five menus — File, Edit, Rows and columns, Format, and Data — with right-click menus on rows, columns, cells, and sheet tabs. Every command is now reachable on a phone.

New Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets is here

A full spreadsheet editor: formulas and functions, named ranges, dynamic arrays, tables, filters, validation, conditional formatting, and CSV import/export — open to everyone.
